Monica Nantume is a Social Worker by profession with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and Social Administration of Makerere University. She is very passionate about serving others with a high degree of empathy to realize the desired change in the lives of others.
She is an alumna of the African Women Leadership Initiative (AWLI 2019 cohort) and the YALI East African Regional Leadership Institute (Cohort 39). She is a networker with membership in the National Association of Social Workers in Uganda (NASWU), Reproductive Health Uganda, NAFASI cooperative Society and a Fellow of the Fredskorpset (FK) Youth Exchange Program (2015/2016)
She has over 6 years’ experience in socio-economic development processes mainly related to gender equality, women’s rights and community development. She is currently working with the National Association of Women’s Organizations in Uganda (NAWOU) as a Programme Officer under the women economic empowerment and livelihood program coordinating the handmade social enterprise and the women at work project in Luwero District. She also spearheads the NAWOU membership processes. She has previously worked with the Non-Governmental Organizations Gender Organizations Coordinating Council (NGOCC), Zambia, as information Officer under FK Program; served at the Uganda National Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) as an Enumerator during the 2014 Uganda National Housing and Population Census.
