1. Monitoring and Evaluation Officer – Volunteer Position

Post Title: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (Volunteer)

Reports to: Program Manager (Results)

Job Description Summary

Purpose of the Position

The purpose of the position is to support program monitoring and evaluation, documenting progress, supporting reviews, reflections and learning, in accordance with NAWOU’s mission and strategic plan. The function supports the Program Manager (Results) to effectively support the entire team including governance and management issues for effective and efficient management evidence-based research, advocacy and membership management and development.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Support all M&E initiatives including managing data management systems, monitoring data quality, tracking the progress of activities, and contributing to reviews, reflections and learnings.
  2. Support in creating a framework and procedures for the monitoring and evaluation of project activities.
  3. Support in defining and implementing the key project performance indicators (KPI) as well as monitoring them throughout the duration of projects.
  4. Support project/ program staff on ways to properly document, organise and capture program progress, draft tools and their revisions as well as data collection procedures
  5. Assist in establishing log frames, M&E work plans and targets during the drafting of donor project proposals as well as throughout project implementation.
  6. Assist in proposing strategies to increase data use and demand amongst Program staff.
  7. Support in reviewing the performance of existing management information systems to help identify potential modifications or resources.
  8. Suggest ways to facilitate data collection and the flow of data within teams.
  9. Perform regular field visits to ensure the quality of data collected to verify the accuracy of reported data and participate in project monitoring and evaluations.


Persons who can apply must have the following:

  • University Degree preferably in social sciences, statistics, development studies, economics or related field. Specific training in M&E is desirable.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in the design and implementation of M, E&L /MIS in development projects implemented by national/international NGOs/UN bodies/ Government.
  • Experience in designing tools and strategies for data collection, analysis and production of reports.
  • Expertise in analyzing data using statistical software.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral): Sensitivity to and responsiveness to stakeholders.

2. Communications Volunteer

Post Title: Communications (Volunteer)

Reports to: Programme Manager (Results)

Job Description Summary

Purpose of the Position

The purpose of the position is to support management with effective communication that promotes the visibility of the organisation. The function also involves maintaining internal and external communications including updating the website, other social media, providing external responses and monitoring visits to NAWOU social media sites.

Reports to: Programme Manager Results and partly to the Executive Director

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in promoting visibility of the organisation
  2. Develop and consolidate media ties with the local media in the country.
  3. Work with the programme team to develop successful goal-oriented communication plan.
  4. Develop from time to time, the content for internal and external communication.
  5. Develop content for the print and broadcast media.
  6. Preserve and promote company reputation among partners and stakeholders.
  7. Be an active part of creative inputs on company’s communications and publications.
  8. Host the website and upgrade content regularly.
  9. Maintain network documentation, update NAWOU website, Facebook, twitter, instagram and any other electronic communications as might be required
  10. Support day to day communication needs at departmental and ED’s office when called upon.


Persons who can apply must have the following:

  • University Degree in Communications or a related discipline
  • Experience as communications personnel in a public organisation
  • Demonstrable work involving the traditional and social media
  • Fluency in English and good communication skills
  • Demonstrable skills in working with a cross-section of stakeholders including women living in the rural areas.
